hey,
i was the kid who asked too many questions. i still am, i've just learned to hold some of them until the end of the meeting. i notice things other people walk straight past, and i keep things i have no use for. there is a pile of broken stuff in my room that exists entirely because maybe i'll use this someday, and i almost never do. my mom says i must have been a kabadiwala in my last birth (the man who comes around buying up everyone's old newspapers and broken things), and i don't have a better explanation than that. the "maybe i'll use this someday" pile is still growing.
i sold two paintings when i was younger and spent every rupee of it on more art supplies, which is probably the most honest thing i can tell you about myself. painting came first and it stuck. then photography, then reading, then writing. i don't think i've ever taken up anything because it was useful.
i've never been to a theatre. i've watched a handful of movies all the way through and i don't have a good excuse for it. i'd rather be out walking with a camera. most of what i end up photographing is light doing something odd, or someone doing something they think nobody noticed. yo, i love interacting with humans.
i want to know why something matters to someone before i start working out how to build it.
i overthink. perfectionism is a double edged sword for me, it drives me and it kills me, usually in that order. some nights i'm still awake moving something two pixels that nobody is ever going to look at twice. 11pm me: 'i can write something else here'
i like people. i'll take a long conversation with someone i've just met over almost anything else. i want to know what annoys them and what they're quietly proud of, and i've never once regretted asking.
i cook, and i eat very well because of it. i live in bangalore now, and every time i go home my mom asks me to make something. then halfway through eating it she says i'll go back to bangalore and they won't get this again, which is the only review i've ever needed. i could have been a chef, honestly. maybe god just didn't want people to be that lucky ;) signature dish: whatever i cook with love.
most of what i start goes nowhere. i stopped treating that as a problem a while ago.
i like philosophy, though my reading is scattered and mostly out of order. what i enjoy is following a question for months, ending up somewhere i didn't expect, and finding out nobody else has finished it either.
anyway, that's half of me. the half i've figured out so far.
why half? because i haven't met the other half yet. i'm not being clever about it, i genuinely don't know what's in there. plot twist: the other half might be cooler.
if you've made it this far,
thank you, truly.
this is me,
or at least,
as much of me as i can see
from where i'm standing.
